Things My Son Has Done Today

Warning! Parent bragging ahead. Read at your own risk.

Shortly after lunch time today, I got an email from Megan — who is home with Dylan on Tuesdays — with the following:

  1. I left him in the room with the laundry basket for one minute and come back to find him with a pair of my underwear around his neck (he was very proud of himself for putting it on all by himself too!)
  2. He decided it was okay for him to go upstairs by himself without me knowing…twice (he got time out both times).
  3. He let the cat outside once.
  4. I heard him playing in the bathroom and when I went in to get him he was sitting on the toilet.

And on a positive note:

  1. He did great with room-time again
  2. He tried cucumber for lunch and actually ate a whole slice without spitting (much of) it out!
  3. He just did a puzzle all by himself! I was putting laundry away in his room and turned around to see the puzzle almost finished, so I sat and encouraged him to put the last few peices in, which he did without any help at all!

Hope your day is just as interesting & amusing!

Sadly, my day has been nowhere near as interesting, nor amusing. So far I've compiled a nice to-do list for the next few days, caught up on email I missed while I was in Phoenix, completed my expense report for last week, picked up my train pass for June, and had lunch. Here's hoping someone around here puts underwear on their head.

  1. Welcome to toddlerdom. . . *blink* and something (good or. . .. not so good) is bound to happen! I bet he was smiling and proud with every single thing he did! And thankfully, none of the -not so positive- things he did didnt involve trips to the hospital or sparks flying (uh, that one happened to me! fortunately everyone was fine!)

Just shows his inquisitiveness and his growing independence!

  2. I think its great that he's so inquisitive and seems to be doing constructive things (not like attacking a kitchen chair with a steak knife...). I'm glad he's open to trying new foods and hopefully you can keep him doing that when he gets older. I'm sure puzzle time will be a fun rainy day activity soon!

    So what is "room time"?

  3. Room Time is something we got from BabyWise. Basically, it's dedicated time for him to play alone in his room, when we say so, like it or not. The idea is that once he gets used to the idea and can play nicely in his room, then we can send him there to play for a while when we need a break or when we just need him not to be around for some reason. We set a kitchen timer and leave it on the shelf in his room, and he knows we won't come to collect him until the timer goes off. Sometimes he does very well, other times he stands at the door crying the whole time.
