Goals for 2009: Progress

Posted By: Adam 1 Comments

Earlier this year I wrote down a few goals for the year, so I thought it would be a good time to check up on them. I can hardly believe that the year is almost over!

  1. Try 12 foods I've been irrationally scared to try.
  2. I wanted to set a photography goal for the year too: Weekly Winners.
  3. Camping, Canoeing / Fishing, Hiking.
  4. Survive the first year of parenthood.

So, while I've sucked at posting about my new foods, I've tried quite a few: Celery, Red Pepper, Tomatoes, Asparagus, Blackbree. In addition, I had a Fresh Spinach salad — from Megans garden. I have eaten spinach before, but never anything from our own garden, so that was a little weird (Verdict: Yum!). I also had Watermelon when we visited Mom & Dad R for dinner (Verdict: Like the taste, but not the texture; will revisit on a hot sunny day some time). I think there was at least one other thing I tried that I'm not remembering. So hey, I've still got 3 months left to try another 5-ish foods. Not too bad.

I have also sucked at participating in Weekly Winners — as in, I haven't done it once — but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on my photography. I don't really have anything measurable for this, but I feel good about it. :)

We've gone camping a few times, but have yet to take the Canoe out this year, or go fishing. Those have proven to be a little difficult, logistically, with an infant. We don't want to take Dylan out in the canoe because that much sun isn't good for him, and it would be a lot of work for a short trip. Same goes for fishing. So… partial credit?

I seem to be surviving parenthood. I'm definitely enjoying it, so I think we can call that good so far. I haven't even punted him in frustration once!

  1. I think you've done splendidly on your goals!! Especially the eating new foods one. I just can't get past the ick part to give anything a try. I'm very proud of you for actually following through and trying them. You even liked a few, which impresses me even more!!

and, you are a wonderful DAD!! You would survive most anything, I know, but because you and Megan are such great parents, Dylan responds by being a wonderful kid!!
