About Me
Where to start? I don't ask because I don't know what topic about myself to start with, but because I don't really know where I'm from, and I have a fondness for being clever. I was born in Mississippi, and lived in at least 3 places before my first memories. I've lived on all three U.S. coasts (including the Gulf) as well as a couple of pre-formative years in Portugal – well, ok, it was actually the Azores, but I really didn't think you were going to nitpick. I was a military brat, emphasis on brat. I went to three elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools – the latter being the only one that matters, because as everyone knows, high school is where life begins. There I developed my eclectic taste in music, and started to realize that girls weren't so bad after all.
I went to two colleges, made lots of really great friends at both, and ended up with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science to show for it. These days I work for Perficient as a Senior Technical Consultant, focusing as much as possible on ColdFusion. If you think that ColdFusion is a (so far) unattainable energy source, or that AJAX is a cleaning product, stay here. Otherwise, you might be interested to know that I blog about really, really nerdy stuff in yet another blog.
I got my first computer when I was nine years old. When Windows 3.11 was released in 1992, my dad got me a 486-66 and set it up to play a clip of the Pink Floyd song "Welcome to the Machine" at boot-up that sung "Welcome my son… welcome… to… the machine." I was doomed. From that point on, computers became the most important material thing in my life, and I've never looked back.
Truly, the most important thing in my life is my beautiful and talented wife Megan. She challenges and inspires me to be a better person, puts up with my quirky sense of humor, and laughs at fart jokes. What more could a guy want? I have to say that – at least in the form we all know – this website and I would not exist without her.
