Project365: 84-94

As I look back at the last 10 days worth of self portraits, one thing is painfully obvious to me: I need a haircut.

Taken during my birthday party with Megan's family. Our birthday party, actually. Since our birthdays are so close, we share a party.

I'm not sure how I took half a dozen portraits without getting my face in focus. It's hard to tell on the lcd screen, I guess. So here's a picture of my collar. (Just another reminder of why I like being on the other side of the camera…)

I was thinking something along the line of the guy who looks down the hose, and the prankster un-kinks it, sending a rush of water into his unsuspecting eye.

…pulled down my background just to lay on it.

My Dad, my Son, and myself. Dad came up to take me to a Phillies game for my birthday. They lost, but it was fun to go and we had a great day out. A net positive, for sure.

"Up Past Bedtime"

Up past my bed time, I'm getting a little loopy. I ended up only taking pictures of stupid faces, and this ended up being one of the sanest.

Nope, I just let my tiny clone that I keep inside my phone out for an hour or two every night to keep him from getting cabin fever, and decided to take his picture tonight.

"Happy Birthday to me!"

So today I'm 27. I had a pretty laid back birthday… I picked dinner (tacos!), and had some pie (peanut butter!).

One of my favorite gifts this year has to be my new Skullcandy Full Metal Jacket iPhone headphones. I wear headphones all the time (train, walking, working, yard work, etc) and I am pretty rough on them to begin with, so the extra durability is awesome; then toss in better sound quality and some moderate noise cancellation, and you've got yourself a winner. At almost $80 for headphones, though, I probably wouldn't have bought them for myself for a long time.

As Megan said, "That's what birthdays are for!"

They Grow Up So Fast

I was just link-surfing to kill a few minutes and ended up at my Dad's blog and then to his Flickr pictures. One of his most recent photos on Flickr was Dylan getting a bath when he was about 10 days old.

No, that's not George Hamilton, it's Dylan getting a bath, at 10 days old

It's hard to say exactly how many baths the boy has had now, at just shy of 5 months old and a schedule of two baths a week plus "incidentals…" (Gee, why might an infant need extra baths?) … So we're probably talking something in the neighborhood of 50.

It really hasn't been that long, but still, it's hard to look at Dylan and remember him being so small that he needed the sling in the bath tub… he's almost to the point where he's outgrown the tub entirely now, and he has a lot more balance and motor control; and I can't imagine how soon — it will feel, at least — he'll be bathing himself.

Happy Birthday Megan!

Today is Megan's birthday, and since ladies never tell their age, I won't tell you that she's 28 years old today. And as I am a gentleman, I definitely will not point out that for the next 5 days she is a full two years older than me, and ask for your help in antagonizing her on that point.

Too late? Whoops.

All kidding aside, Happy Birthday Peanut. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and the last 3 years and 7 months (to the day!) have been an incredible journey that I can't imagine having taken with anyone else.

I love you!
