Skiing!

We're going skiing this weekend. It's been forever and I can't wait. I'm actually snowboarding. I have my own board. It'll be Megan's first time skiing.

I've been holding off mentioning it because I didn't want to jinx it but at this point I don't think there's any stopping it. We've been getting a half-inch or so dusting almost every night for a week, and they've gotten real snow every time up in the mountains. Now they're calling for more severe weather here, so I can only imagine how much snow is forecast for the mountains.

At this point the plan is to take it slow and make it through the weekend without breaking any bones – something I can't claim I've done the last two trips I've made. If I can come back and confirm that then I will consider the trip a success.

In addition to all of that, I'll be battling the arthritis in my hips and lower back caused by the Crohns. Hopefully that won't prove to be too much of a problem, but I'll be bringing a fresh new bottle of Tylenol just in case.

Of course, I start Crocheting tomorrow night, so I guess I'll be bringing that along and spending a little time on it in the evenings. Where better to crochet than by a warm fire at our cabin in the Pocono mountains? (Maybe the hot tub?)

A while ago I decided to move all of the chatter about my Crohn's Disease to its own blog. At the time, my posting here was irregular (no pun intended), at best. Now that I'm writing almost every day, it feels like that information belongs back here.

So here's the deal.

I've created a new tag called Crohns, which I'll use to tag any post where I talk about my, well, Crohns. It's "highlighted", which means that it shows up on the sidebar under, "Highlighted Tags." A substantial percentage of our regular readers here (21%!) ask me how my Crohns junk is going on a regular basis, so I figured it may be worthwhile to put it right here on the front page.

That said, I know it doesn't always interest everyone, so I won't count that as my post for the day… And if you would rather (which you could let me know by way of a comment) I could not put those posts on the front page at all. Instead, you would have to choose Crohns from the sidebar to see those posts. Which would you rather?

Before I post the best youtube video ever (ever!), I'll take this opportunity to announce that the winner of the Pick Adam's New Blobby ("BLOg hoBBY." I just made that up. I'm smart.) poll is Crocheting. This weekend we went in to Michaels and I picked up my supplies and a couple of patterns. Let me assure you, this will be the most manly thing ever crocheted. It may take $400 worth of batteries – Wifey's camera eats them for breakfast – but I will crochet every day of February, and try to take pictures of my progress to post here.

If this turns out to be as fun and interesting as I think it will, I will probably continue to do stuff like this on an ongoing basis. Not crocheting – but Blobby-ing.

(I also edited the CSS so now when I post videos you won't get the horizontal scroll. Go me.)
