We went camping in Cape May, New Jersey for our first wedding anniversary. You have to be precise with these things. We didn't really celebrate the anniversary of our first kiss (March 31st, if memory serves), or give more than a mention to our official 2 year dating anniversary (April 1st).
Once back in the comfort of our own home we enjoyed a slice of our wedding cake, and celebrated our new-found freezer-space with pink champagne – a gift from Zach & Erin. I don't know if we're special or something, but the cake wasn't half bad. Considering how delicious it was a year ago I could definitely taste a difference, but compared to your average year old birthday cake I'd say it was damn good.
As always, there's
a new photo album up.
I guess now we're not technically newlyweds any more. We certainly have enough newlywed friends though. Zach and Erin, most recently. Jennie & Vernon, Matt & Christina, John & Maggie…
So where do we go from here? I can tell you this much, we're in no hurry to get there.
Kids? Eventually.
Traveling? Probably.
More vacation? Definitely.
Second honeymoon? Not soon enough!
And so I'll leave you with a teaser. You won't know when (mostly because I don't yet), but eventually you'll get to see, among other things,
Megan sitting on a cloud.
First of all, congratulations to Fisch, Mom, and Kevin who all
won their matchups this week. The Croc's pulled through in the final hours (the Skins vs. Cowboys game) with Santana Moss earning 7 fantasy points to close the gap and overtake my better half. Kevin's superstar QB Peyton Manning scored a whopping 31 fantasy points, which makes up for T.O.'s 1 point embarrassment.
Final Scores for week 2: Fischnuts takes Tickle My Elmo, 95 to 31. Monkey Pick Ass takes the Buckaroo's in their home-opener, 101 to 86. Philly narrowly misses a win, 80 to 90. And the A-Town Virgen Mirgen come out on top for the week, with 113 fantasy points, to beat the Hunter-Gatherer's 81.
So now that you've got a good grasp on how you accrue points and what your objectives are, here's a quick tip on improving your team by drafting free agents and giving your dud's the boot. I'll show pictures using my team from my
other league, since I'm making a change there anyway. So these screenshots are actual choices I've made, but will not affect
our league at all.
To see who's available, start by selecting "Players" from the league navigation bar:
Then, filter the list of available players, by selecting the position that you're looking to fill. In my example, I'm looking for a Quarterback, so I choose QB:
You're then presented with a list of available quarterbacks, and a few statistics about them.

This list is by default sorted by the "Fantasy Points Earned This Season" column, as indicated by it's green shading. Here's a quick list of what each column's abbreviation means:
OPP – Opposing team for the selected week (current by default)
STATUS – when the game is scheduled
PRK – Positional Rank. (in our example, Frye, Rank 8, is the highest ranked available QB)
PTS – The number of antasy points gained so far this season
AVG – Average fantasy points per game
LAST – The number of fantasy points earned in the teams last game
H&V – Hector & Victor's projection of how many points this player will earn this week.
PVO – Position vs. Opponent rating. I'm not entirely sure what this data represents so I won't guess and confuse you.
%OWN – The percentage of fantasy leagues on espn.com that have a team that owns this player.
+/- – The % change of ownership (of %OWN) since last week.
So once you decide on a player to draft, it's time to claim him. On the far right side of the chart, in the last column, will either be a link called "Add" (as in my picture) or "Claim" – I'm not sure what the difference is, but at any rate, they do the same thing. Click the link for the player you want.
In my example, I'm taking Frye. I know he's a little inexperienced and thrown a few interceptions already this season, but as you can see, picking's are slim and despite his interceptions, he's been consistently better than my 3rd round pick, Jake Delhomme (that bastard!). I also just picked up Chad Pennington (NY Jets) a couple of days ago. Let's move on…
After I clicked the "Add" link for Frye, I'm told that I need to make another adjustment to my roster because adding him would give me more than the allowed 16 players.

Since I dropped Delhomme to pick up Pennington, I'll drop an extra running back that hasn't been doing so well, Chris Brown. Check the box next to his name, and click the "Submit Roster" button:
You'll then be asked to confirm your action. Look over what it says will happen and if you're pleased with the results, click the confirm button.
After I confirmed my transaction, I was immediately given the player. Once you confirm the transaction, it may not happen immediately. This is ok. Generally, it's best to make your selections on Tuesday or Wednesday – Thursday at the latest.
Whether or not you will get the player you're attempting to draft depends on your waiver priority. Your priority is opposite to your team rank for the week, and is calculated and reset on Tuesday mornings at midnight. So if you got the least points of all teams in the league this week, your priority will be 1. If you got the most, your priority will be 8. You can find your priority on the Team page in the player filtering box. It says, (in my case) "Waiver Order (6)" – which tells me that I came in 4th place overall this week, out of 10 teams.
So how does the priority affect your picks? Well, it only really matters if two people attempt to pick the same person, which is pretty infrequently. Chances are you'll get the player you want. But on the off chance that two people pick the same player, the one with the higher priority gets him, and no change is made to the lower-priority team's roster. Once you confirm the transaction, and if you didn't immediately obtain the player (scan your roster to see if you did or not), there will be a small blue line above your roster that says "Pending Moves (1)" or something along that line. Clicking it will show you what your pending moves are; and when they will be finalized. Check back after the finalization date/time to see if you got the player and to update your roster.
That about wraps up using waivers to pick up free agents. As always, get in touch with me if you have any other questions.
