Camera Ailment

Yesterday we spent the entire day in Philadelphia. We got up entirely too early (6:30), caught an 8:15 train in to town, and didn't arrive back at the train station until almost 9:00 pm. Moxie really had to go potty.

We spent the day at the Franklin Institute, and after much debate and even more walking, had dinner at the Olive Garden. While the Olive Garden is a fairly normal restaurant, it's not one we have the opportunity to patronize often all the way out here in the boonies – which was a large part of the criteria for our selection.

After all was said and done, my legs are tired. So tired.

I managed to get (ready?) THREE. Decent. Pictures… before my camera totally went on the fritz. It was turning itself off before I went to take a picture – but without closing the lens; not turning on when asked to (even if I asked politely and added a cherry on top!); and generally just doing everything in its power to frustrate me. I'm ready to throw it away.

I'm turning into a TV Junkie

With this last week off, Meg and I watched the entire first season of Heroes (which I feel bad for discounting originally, but I'm thrilled that having not seen any of it meant I got to watch the entire season over two days – eliminating most of the anticipation), I've rekindled my love for Sports Night, and last night we even watched most of the first season of Weeds.

It's no big secret that I've lost the ability to watch live TV (other than football). I get all anxious and perturbed during commercials. With my DVR I can fast forward through them in just a couple of seconds. Such is the modus operandi when watching Scrubs, Criminal Minds, C.S.I., N.C.I.S., E.R., Dirty Jobs, Miami Ink, and whatever other shows we record that I'm forgetting. So much so that I would rather watch a recorded show while recording live tv than watch the live show.

I can tell that the season for new shows is over because all of those shows I mentioned above have stopped appearing as new episodes in our recordings list. And now that the season is over, I can catch up on shows that I've recorded all season but not watched yet (Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy, …)

I'm actually looking forward to spring. I like going outside and being active. I'm excited about going camping and hiking and fishing this year. I'd like to get a canoe trip in. Play – or at least go watch – some baseball. So I'm not a total lost cause. It's just hard to be motivated to go outside of my remote control's infrared range while it's 27 degrees outside.

I sort of promised you pictures from the weekend, but still managed to not upload them yet (or bring the memory card to work with me). I don't like breaking promises, so I did what any self respecting computer nerd would. I put a reminder in my PDA. Shortly before 6:30 tonight a little bell will sound and remind me to take my medicine, and clean the cat litter (that I should have cleaned yesterday but got sidetracked and forgot about). But then later, just before 7, another bell will sound reminding me to upload the pictures. And I will. I promise. Sort of.

Photo Wednesday #14: The Shot

I finally got the shot!

Friday while I was home to see daylight I took the opportunity to take a few more stabs at this picture. It only took about 50.

Sorry for the lack of posting over the last few days. I'm sure you understand. I was busy putting pretty paper on things, and taking pretty paper off of things. Definitely not puking. (How sad is that? I'd hate to be sick for Christmas.)

I forgot to grab the memory card out of my camera this morning, so it won't be until tonight (at the earliest) or tomorrow (at the latest) that I'll put up whatever pictures we managed to take over the weekend on our flickr page. I think having a busted camera has seriously de-motivated both of us in the picture taking department. On the bright side, whacking the side of your camera before taking someones picture seems to be a good way to get a nice smile/laugh for the picture.
