Entries for month: June 2005
Today I've been in communication with our contact at the hotel, discussing the particulars of the information he'll be including in our personalized online-booking webpage and confirming the details of our reservations.
That's pretty much it. Personally I think it's very fitting that we're going to have the ability to let our guests register for their hotel rooms online; and for that reason I'm kind of euphoric – in that geeky way. :)
(… And now I'll go back to collecting tax-liability, invoice, and account data for our IRS auditor. No smiling at work. :P)
In the selfless plug department, it bears mentioning that there is a little information and a couple of pictures from Charlie & Ellen's wedding on
their webpage. :)
As Meg mentioned, this experience really got the wheels turning in our heads about what kinds of things we want (and don't want), and what kinds of things to expect and be prepared for – like it or not.
And as Megan mentioned, we do have a freaking ton (thats a metric bum-load, for those of you playing our home game) of details to work out and decisions to make. Though, I guess the next big thing is going to be the invitations. Other than that, picking out a cake design, tasting cake options, finalizing plans with the florist and DJ, making sure the groomsmen get fitted for their tuxes –
you know how we boys tend to procrastinate!, and ordering favors are all tasks that stand out in my mind. I'm sure if I checked the checklist that there's plenty more I could worry about too; but why worry today about what I can put off until tomorrow! ;)
Yesterday was the first of two celebrations for my brother Jared's birthday. The big day is actually next Friday, the 24th, but a good friend of his is leaving town for Iowa and he Jared wanted to have a party that Noah could come to, too.
Happy Father's Day Dad (and Dad!)!
When I woke up this morning I realized that in exactly three months, I would be waking up on my wedding day! I can not believe that in three months, Adam and I will be married!! Although that seems like not that much time, I have a feeling that these next few months are going to drag by. I can not imagine having a longer engagement than what we have planned. I'm not sure I could wait a whole year to get married after getting engaged. Although, it's probably a good thing that we have three more months to finish all the planning and details of the wedding. There is still a lot of little decisions that need to be made and things that need to be done before the big day, but I am feeling much more relaxed about the whole thing now that all the big decisions are over with.
Last weekend Adam and I drove up to Mechanicsburg (sp?), PA for his cousin, Ellen's, wedding. The wedding was beautiful, and aside from a slight rain shower in the middle of the outdoor ceremony, everything went off without a hitch. It was great to see all of Adam's extended family again. We haven't seen them since our engagement, so I got to show off my beautiful ring to everyone. :) The night after the wedding we stayed at a nearby hotel and the next morning we met up with everyone at the Cracker Barrel for some breakfast before heading home.
Going to Ellen's wedding got the wheels spinning in my head again about my own wedding and now I'm even more anxious and excited for our day to come. September 17th can't get here soon enough!!! I love you baby!
