Entries for month: April 2005
Lately, another 7 days means it's time for another long weekend.
Friday night we met with a would-be photographer who we almost immediately knew was the photographer we wanted to use. His price was right and his photos are beautiful. If you're ever in the area and in need of a professional photographer, check out
Ritch Photography. We're giving him our deposit check this week, so you'll see him at the wedding.
From there, we drove to Adam's apartment up in Deleware somewhere. Forgive me, I'm still not too good with all the town names. Saturday Megan went to lunch and then dress shopping with Mom Rhodes, Beth, Erin, and Grandma Bastuscheck. Amazingly, she decided on the very first dress she tried on – after trying on
many others, from what I hear – and even picked out bride's maids' dresses! Of course, other than the one picture I saw of those dresses, I can't say too much about them: Strapless, Lilac, Beautiful. Obviously I haven't seen nor heard a peep about the wedding dress. That'll have to do. ;)
While all of this was happening, I was lounging around in Adam's wonderfull leather La-z-boy recliner watching HBO On Demand to my heart's delight.
That night we had a lot of fun out to dinner with the usual suspects: Zach, Erin, Adam, Steve, and Beth – in counter-clockwise order. Dave couldn't make it because of work. We ate at the Iron Hill somethingorother, and then walked up to Caffé Gelato for dessert. (They misspelled
Café, not me!)
Fast forward to breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa Bastuscheck at Mom & Dad Rhodes' house. From what I hear, the sticky buns are
excellent. Cora's Dedication during the 11:00 church service was great, and there were a diaper full of family pictures taken. Megan has all of ours, so once I get them from her I'll put them up in the photo album.
Lastly, you'll notice a new section on the right side-bar: a countdown until our wedding day. It's been requested by more than one person, and as long as it's not freaking us out because
there are only X days left and we still have to do this, and this, and this… then it'll be there until the big day.
Megan's Birthday was last Sunday, and until this Thursday she'll be 2 years older than me. If I were you, I would call her every other hour until Thursday and remind her that she's robbing the cradle… but that's just me.
To celebrate, I took her to a
Blue Rocks game, which they
lost! If I could have ordered a win online, believe me, I would have; but we had to settle for great seats, beautiful weather, chicken fingers, and an un-planned excursion into New Jersey. The game was a lot of fun to watch, despite their loss.
Shh… Don't tell my mom, but we accidentally left the sun screen in the car and both got a little red on our arms. The first burn of the year means that summer is nearly here and – at least here in Salisbury – I don't think we got more than a handful of days of Spring under our belt first!
Speaking of forgetting, we
also forgot the camera… so we don't have any new pictures up in the photo gallery. Woops!
Well, the wedding plans are coming along. This weekend we put our deposit down for The Fountains, so if you haven't heard already, the official date of the wedding is September 17, 2005!!!
Now that we have the place booked, we are busy finding a DJ or band, photographer, and florist. We chose a florist and found out today that they are available for the wedding, so one more decision down, and only ten million more to go :-P
After calling about 12 photographers, leaving lots of messages, and ruling out those who were already booked and those who were way over our budget, we finally scheduled an appointment to meet with one of them on Wednesday. I think we will like this photographer if his photos are anything like those on his web page; and he's actually within our budget! It's amazing how much some photographers cost. All of this is definitely a learning experience for me!
Our honeymoon destination has also been decided upon. We've chosen to go on a cruise, and we found one we really like that goes to Cayman Islands, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Belize. Now all we have to do is make the travel arrangements.
Although I feel as though plans are coming together really well, I'm still nervous that I'm going to forget something or we won't be able to get a DJ/Band or photographer that we want. I know I said that after we determined a place and a date that I would be less spastic over this planning thing, but now I'm just hoping I calm down after we find a photographer and a DJ or band :-P
