Megan is pregnant. (Again)

I'm Not Even Supposed To Be Here Today!

Dante Hicks, from Clerks

Tonight, for the third time, Dylan pooped in the tub. That in itself is probably enough content for Kevin Smith to write a 3 hour flip-out / argument scene about, but not having his talent, you'll just have to settle for this one little bit:

"I'm not even supposed to be here today!"

Honestly, that was the first thing that went through my mind when I realized what was happening; because it was true. If you're not familiar with the movie, Dante gets called in to work on his day off, and a series of bad things happens to him — after each of which he complains, "I'm not even supposed to be here today." Friday is bath-day, but on most Friday's it would be Megan giving him a bath, not me. (I do Sundays and the occasional Tuesday.) Tonight Megan was out having dinner with friends, so I traded Friday for Sunday.

I'm starting to think I got a raw deal.

What's worse is that the second place my mind went was the TV Show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," specifically to an episode entitled "Who Pooped The Bed?"

It's a little hard to see, but there is a silver lining to this poop cloud. A few moments — maybe as much as 60 seconds — before the event occurred, Dylan got my attention and made the sign for "diaper." Only now do I see the error of my ways. I should have immediately picked him up and plopped him down on the toilet seat.

Not to worry, it'll never happen again. I've sworn off ever giving the child another bath.

P.S. I considered posting a picture. Figured I'd spare you. You're welcome.

Things My Son Has Done Today

Warning! Parent bragging ahead. Read at your own risk.

Shortly after lunch time today, I got an email from Megan — who is home with Dylan on Tuesdays — with the following:

  1. I left him in the room with the laundry basket for one minute and come back to find him with a pair of my underwear around his neck (he was very proud of himself for putting it on all by himself too!)
  2. He decided it was okay for him to go upstairs by himself without me knowing…twice (he got time out both times).
  3. He let the cat outside once.
  4. I heard him playing in the bathroom and when I went in to get him he was sitting on the toilet.

And on a positive note:

  1. He did great with room-time again
  2. He tried cucumber for lunch and actually ate a whole slice without spitting (much of) it out!
  3. He just did a puzzle all by himself! I was putting laundry away in his room and turned around to see the puzzle almost finished, so I sat and encouraged him to put the last few peices in, which he did without any help at all!

Hope your day is just as interesting & amusing!

Sadly, my day has been nowhere near as interesting, nor amusing. So far I've compiled a nice to-do list for the next few days, caught up on email I missed while I was in Phoenix, completed my expense report for last week, picked up my train pass for June, and had lunch. Here's hoping someone around here puts underwear on their head.
